“HUNT FOR HISTORY” at KENNESAW MOUNTAIN NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD PARK

WHO: Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club, Partner of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
WHAT: A scavenger hunt, following clues of historical significance in the Park Two routes to choose from:
  • A 5.5 mile, rugged route traveling over Kennesaw Mountain, Little Kennesaw Mountain, and Pigeon Hill
  • A 3 mile route of gentler terrain, covering the Environmental Trail and the brand new 24 Gun Battery Trail
WHEN: Saturday, April 26, 2014 Three starting times to choose from: 7:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m.
WHERE: Special Parking near Visitor Center (900 Kennesaw Mountain Drive; Kennesaw 30152) on grass field in front of Administration Office - Registration nearby- see map
WHY: A Fun’Raising Event for the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain 150th Commemoration taking place June 26 – June 29, 2014
HOW: Participation is easy – and fun….
  1. DOWNLOAD the Registration Form and Waiver from our website:

  2. BRING a camera or a phone with a camera to document your findings
  3. PARK at the parking lot on Old Highway 41 and proceed to the Visitor Center for registration ~ 30 minutes prior to your event start time. This is important as all teams will compete in a Historical Trivia Quiz to determine starting order. (No smart phones or other assistance can be used during the quiz.)
  4. TEAMS WILL LEAVE at intervals from the Registration Center according to their scores on the Historical Trivia Quiz to minimize crowding on the trails.
  5. A PACKAGE containing instructions and the clues for each destination along the route will be given to each team. It is permissible to use a smart phone or other assistance to solve the riddles. Teams are encouraged to stay together and work collectively.
  6. A PRIZE will be given to each team member that returns to the Registration Center in the shortest time with all of the correct answers - on each route at each of the three starting times.
  7. KINDLY REMEMBER that you are trekking through a National Battlefield Park. Please remain on the trails at all times and be respectful of the events and people who have made history here.
  8. Be sure to dress appropriately for traveling on the trails and for weather conditions!
